Drivers warned as Galway road to close

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys
Drivers have been warned to take note as a Galway road will be closed for majority of the day on Tuesday.
Roadworks are continuing on the N84 between Headford and Galway at Corrandulla Cross for the remainder of the week.
A stop go system will be in operation. Tomorrow Tuesday, the N84 will be closed between Cloonboo and Corrandulla Cross for a period of time between 10am and 3pm.
A short diversion will be in place from Cloonboo village to Corrandulla and onto Corrandulla Cross. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
As well as this, a stretch of the motorway road for Galway will be closed to drivers for ten hours each across two nights this week.
The M17 northbound from Junction 19 Annagh Hill to Junction 20 Tuam will be closed from 8pm to 6am on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 September with diversions in place via the R354 and N83.
Transport Infrastructure for Ireland has confirmed they will be carrying out maintenance works on the road which is expected to be finished next Wednesday morning.
There will be staff in place to direct traffic throughout the closure and for access if needed in the case of emergencies.
A spokesperson for Galway County Council said: “Please be advised that Direct Route Tuam, on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, will be carrying out maintenance works on the M17 Northbound carriageway between Junction 19 Annagh hill and Junction 20 Tuam.
“To facilitate these works, the motorway will be closed nightly from 8pm to 6am.
“The closure points will be staffed throughout the duration of the works to allow access for emergency services if required. Please note that all works are weather-dependent.”
