Double dance bill at Town Hall

Irish Modern Dance Theatre brings its new show, Actions on a nationwide tour this January and February, visiting Galway on January 31.
Actions, which is choreographed by the company’s founder, John Scott, is set to music by Meredith Monk (by arrangement with Boosey & Hawkes) and has a cast of two dancers, Philip Connaughton and Marc Mann.
Actions is a physical conversation between two individuals in empty space. Two outstanding male dancers thrillingly battle through space with invigorating athletic dancing and physicality. They merge and break apart - the painful coming together – with movement motivated by forceful resistance.
Both funny and exciting, Actions was first staged by the company in September 2009 and is their biggest international hit show to date. It was recently performed in New York, Germany and at the Dublin Dance Festival to excellent reviews and an excellent audience response.
As an added extra to this New Year Irish tour and to mark their biggest engagement for the first half of 2011, the company will perform their hugely acclaimed The Bowing Dance, created and performed by John Scott. Playful, quirky and idiosyncratic, The Bowing Dance, sometimes compared to Beckett, has been performed in Edinburgh, France, New York, Liverpool, Sweden and Estonia.
Tickets for the Town Hall Show are| €16 / €12 Box Office – 091 569664 www.tht.ie
