Department rules proving problematic for Galway’s rural schools
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway senator says current Department of Education rules are making it difficult for schools in rural Galway to fill positions on boards of management. Department guidelines stiplulate that a person must live within 20 kilometers of a school in order to qualify as a board member. The issue was raised in the Seanad by Seantor Trevor O Clochartaigh, who is calling on the Education Minister to review the rules. He says the 20 kilometer rule is causing problems for gaelscoileanna in particular.
