Decision shortly on tender for Galway’s Capital of Culture bid

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A decision is expected in the next two weeks on the awarding of a tender for Galway's European Capital of Culture bid. The initiative celebrates Europe's cultural diversity with two member States sharing the title each year. Galway City Council advertised for tenders in mid-February for the management of the bid. An initial assessment of the tenders has since been carried out to determine that the selection and qualificiation criteria has been met. Clarifications were sought for some and some were invited to make a presentaion of their proposal with subsequent interview. The local authority is now concluding the final assessment under the award criteria process. City officials hope to complete this process in the next two weeks. Ireland and Croatia have been nominated to host a European Capital of Culture for 2020. Two member States share the title each year with Romania and Greece scheduled for 2021.
