DANA TO CLARIFY HER POSITION IN COMING DAYS

Date Published: 13-Oct-2011
It's still unclear this evening whether Claregalway resident Dana will withdraw from the presidential race.
There's speculation she might quit - after she made a dramatic statement on last night's Prime Time Presidential debate.
Near the end of the programme, she said that vile and false allegations have been made against a member of her family which would appear in today's newspapers.
However, no newspaper has yet run the story about a member of the Browne family which effectively means Dana herself put the story in the public domain.
The Independent Presidential candidate hasn't made any of her scheduled public appearances today and has declined all requests for interview.
It's understood she has been in meetings with her legal team all day today.
Also, as yet, no public events have been scheduled for tomorrow fuelling speculation that she may withdraw.
Although Dana can't officially withdraw because her name is on the ballot paper she can unofficially withdraw which would mean she would stop canvassing and doing publicity.
Dana's biographer, journalist Ken Murray says Dana will clarify her position in the coming days.
