Galway County Council has adopted one of the toughest budgets ever with almost €7 million less to spend this year.

The draft budget for 2010 has fallen to €149 million, compared with last years allocation of €156 million.

Pay, essential services, housing and roads budgets have all been hit, with the roads budget down almost €13 million.

The councils water budget is up over €3 million from last year, and there'll be no rise in commercial rates this year.
