COUNTING UNDERWAY AT GALWAY CENTRES

Date Published: 01-Jun-2012
Counting of votes in the Fiscal Treaty Referendum for Galway's 320 boxes has now begun [9am].
Votes for Galway West will be counted at Leisureland in Salthill and at New Inn Community Centre for Galway East.
The returning officer for Galway West's 164 boxes is Marian Chambers Higgins and the returning officer for Galway East's 156 boxes is Derry Buckley.
Nationally, more than 3.1 million people were entitled to vote on the proposed thirtieth amendment to the constitution - but only around half did so.
If it's not too close, a call will be made on the result by 11am.
This will be followed with an official declaration in the afternoon at the central count centre in Dublin Castle.
