COUNCILLOR RAISES CONCERNS OVER SPIDDAL DESIGNATIONS

Date Published: 31-Jan-2013
The prospect of Spiddal being cut off because of planning designations was raised at this week's Galway County Council meeting.
Councillor Seosamh Ó Laoi was arguing against an area east of the village being identified as a flood risk area which would stop any building there.
He said that the road prevented the sea from coming in and that if ever that changed that Spiddal village itself would be isolated.
Councillors voted to zone the land for building, but the plans have not yet been finalised.
