A councillor has asked Galway City Council to get definitive answers regarding ongoing road works delays on the Seamus Quirke Road in Westside.

Cllr Padraig Conneely says senior executives from contract holders Coffey Construction need to explain ongoing delays and cost over-runs.

The stretch of road through the west side of the city was due for completion in September 2011, and the final pricing is already millions over the original costings.

Councillor Conneely says the council is not giving satisfactory answers so Coffeys may explain the situation.
