A Galway County Councillor is calling for the Joint Policing Committee to tackle the problem of roaming horses.

Councillor Jim Cuddy says the issue of wandering horses on the Headford Road is extremely dangerous for motorists.

He's urging the Joint Policing Committee to work together with the County Council and the GSPCA on the matter.

Councillor Cuddy wants horses on the Headford Road to be micro-chipped so that the horse owners can be held accountable.

He has contacted the Joint Policing Committee and says they need to take action now
