COUNCIL REJECTS CRITICISM OVER CITY ROUNDABOUT WORK

The Director of Services for Roads with Galway City Council is trying to dispel concern about the re-arrangement of the Briarhill roundabout.
Motorists have expressed concern over the past few days about safety at the roundabout and long delays as a result.
Work is underway on removing the roundabout to replace it with a traffic light junction as part of the N6 upgrade scheme through the city.
Traffic is now being diverted through the large roundabout and around a smaller roundabout, with road re-alignment underway.
Director of Services, Ciarán Hayes says he believes that there are no major problems with the work.
