COUNCIL PASSES PLAN FOR NEW ORANMORE SCHOOL

Date Published: 27-Sep-2011

Plans for a new school for Gaelscoil de Híde in Oranmore have taken a step forward.

Outline planning permission for a new two-storey school with 16 classrooms and a general-purpose room was already granted by the County Council.

However, full planning permission could not be sought until Councillors passed a material contravention to the County Development Plan.

At this week's meeting of the County Council, councillors unanimously agreed to the contravention.

Councillor Jim Cuddy says the school, which suffers from overcrowding, can now proceed with a full planning application.
