CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR LONG AWAITED KNOCKNACARRA COMMUNITY CENTRE

Date Published: 04-Apr-2012

The contract is being signed this morning with Purcell Construction for the building of the Knocknacarra Community Centre.

Councillor Catherine Connolly says many people in Knocknacarra thought that they would never see this day after a 14 year wait.

The original community centre was planned for the Shopping Centre at Shangort but this ended in a complete debacle for the City Council.

Cllr Connolly says the Community Centre will be multi-functional and will cater for both sporting interests as well as local musical and drama groups along with residents' associations.

She says it should be ready by this time next year.
