Three Clifden men are to serve sentences varying from five years to three years for their part in a fracas after a wedding reception in the town two years ago.

The men involved are the then 16-year-old groom, Jimmy Conroy, who is now 18, from Glenbricken, Clifden, and his older brother 30 year old Michael Conroy, Ballybane along with their brother-in-law, 30 year old Thomas “Buttons” Sweeney from Cleggan, Connemara

Last month they were all found guilty by a jury at Galway Circuit Criminal Court of assaulting two wedding guests with a sword, a saw and a hatchet, during a fracas at the home of the groom on his wedding night.
