CONCERNS OVER CUTS TO CO COUNCIL HOUSING MAINTENANCE BUDGET

uam Area Cllr Sean Canney has warned of the impacts of cuts to the county's housing maintenance budget.

He argues that the 30 percent reduction makes no economic sense and a lack of funding will mean more local authority houses will remain vacant.

The Independent Cllr says this could lead to an increase in rent supplement payments and does not represent value for money.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Cllr Canney says the decision should be reviewed

Concerns have also been raised on the cuts to the Energy Efficiency Programme.
