The Minister for the Environment is being urged to urgently prioritise a new wastewater treatment plant for Clifden.

It's after Clifden Beach was classified yesterday as having a 'Poor' water quality status by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Cllr Eileen Mannion says it was no surprise as the water quality of Clifden beach will not improve until a new wastewater treatment plant is built.

She's calling on Environment Minister Phil Hogan to deliver the new facility for Clifden this year.
