Galway Bay Fm newsroom

Galway's city's Dominic Street has reopened for all traffic after it was closed for a time while three units of Galway Fire Brigade dealt with a fire in a restaurant there earlier today.

The alarm was raised shortly before 8 am and all those living in accommodation over Le Petite Rouge restaurant were quickly evacuated to safety.

The fire fighters quickly got the blaze under control and there has been severe smoke damage to the inside of the building.

Gardai say that as yet they do not know the cause of the blaze but further investigations will be carried out by them.
