Date Published: 08-Jan-2012
Galway City Councillors will be asked to pass an emergency motion calling on the government to reverse the household charge at a protest scheduled to take place tomorrow [Jan 9] .
The march organised by the Galway branch of the United Left Alliance will be held at City Hall where this year's first city council meeting is to be held at 3pm.
The ULA group is also calling for the amendment of budget estimates associated with the household charge.
The 100 euro fee was introduced this month by the Local Government Act 2011 and is payable by all owners of residential property.
