CITY OFFICIAL DEFENDS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT CO-ORDINATION

The unlimited and unregulated volume of traffic has meant that congestion has reached near saturation point in the city.
That's the view of Director of Services Ciaran Hayes who has rejected claims that there is no joined up thinking between City Hall and the Gardai on dealing with the city's traffic issues.
At today's Joint Policing Committee meeting, Chairman Padraig Conneely said he was disappointed at the lack of co-ordination between the two agencies.
This view was supported by Galway Deputy Brian Walsh and Mayor of Galway Hildegarde Naughton who said it's unacceptable that no immediate measures can be taken by both agencies after four meetings to discuss the situation.
