The city manager says there's no question of 'handing over' land to allow a private developer build a primary care centre in Shantalla but there is a proposal to sell land

Joe O'Neill was reacting to criticism by Cllr Colette Connolly that he wants the city council to hand over recreational and amenity land to a private company, which will then lease the centre back to the HSE.

Mr O'Neill says any proposal will be subject to the approval of the City Council and if it is to proceed it will do so on the basis of securing a price for the land that is acceptable to the Council.

Cllr Connolly says the plans would require rezoning an acre and a half of Shantalla Neighbourhood Park and this has not been put before councillors prior to this.
