CITY MAN SENT FOR TRIAL CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX WITH GIRL

A 20 year old city man has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court, charged with having sex with an underage girl in a shopping centre car park.The accused, who may not be named at this stage for legal reasons, was accompanied in Galway District Court this week by his mother.The man is charged with having sexual intercourse with a girl who is under 17 years of age at Galway Retail Park, Headford Road, on February 16 last year.Sergeant Caroline Moloney served a Book of Evidence on the accused yesterday in court. Judge Mary Fahy returned him for trial to the next sessions of Galway Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on April 8 next. She remanded him on continuing bail to that date.
