CITY LUNCHTIME DEMONSTRATION AGAINST ANGLO PAYOUT

Date Published: 25-Jan-2012
Demonstrators are taking to the city streets this lunchtime calling on the Government to stop the payment of 1.25 billion euro to Anglo bondholders.
The "Carnival of Resistance" is organised by Occupy Galway as part of a national campaign calling on the government to reverse today's planned payout.
Protestors have been camped outside the former Anglo Irish Bank on Forster Street since 7.30 this morning.
They're taking their protest to Eyre Square around now where they will perform a theatrical march to the Spanish Arch.
Meanwhile, Sinn Féin Republican Youth are also holding a demonstration at the County Council Offices at Prospect Hill in the city this lunchtime.
They are handing a petition into the Council addressed to all public representatives in the Galway West Constituency to oppose the Anglo payment.
