City Fine Gael candidates selected for local election

The party's selection convention for city central, city west, and city east was held in the Salthill Hotel last evening.

Outgoing councillor Mayor of Galway Padraig Conneely was selected to run in the City Central Ward, but will be joined by Cllr Frank Fahy who has moved from the City East Ward.

Former Councillor John Mulholland is to seek re-election to City West Ward and was selected alongside Businesswomen Michelle Murphy who is well known in HR and Recruitment circles in Galway.

In the City East Ward John Walsh, brother of Brian Walsh TD was selected to run and is likely that at least one other candidate will be added for the party in that area.

Meanwhile, a seperate selection convention will take place on November 14th to decide on the co-option in the west ward to replace Senator Hildegarde Naughton.
