CITY COUNCILLOR ISSUES WARNING ABOUT CON MEN
Date Published: 22-Feb-2013
A city councillor is urging neighbours and family to look out for elderly people living alone who are being targeted by con-men.
Councillor Donal Lyons says there have been several approaches to elderly residents on the west side of the city in recent weeks by so-called tradesmen.
He says several incidents have been reported to Gardaí where these handy men intimidated residents into having work carried out.
The conmen gain the confidence of the vulnerable resident and then disappear when money is exchanged.
