Children’s Minister calls for submissions on mother and baby homes

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Minister for Children says he wants the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes set up before the Dail goes into summer recess. The decision to hold an investigation was prompted by the controversy over a children's grave in Tuam adjacent to the former Bons Secours mother and baby home. Minister Charlie Flanagan has been giving an update on progress made so far, including the setting up of a special email address for submissions. The Minister is urging organisations and individuals who wish to make submissions on which institutions should be included, to do so as quickly as possible. Minister Flanagan also says he will meet key advocacy groups and have further meetings with other political parties in the next couple of weeks, to move the Commission forward. The email address for submissions is: [email protected]
