Date Published: 01-Sep-2011

Five candidates will battle it out tomorrow for Galway County Council's endorsement to run in the Presidential election next month.

The five, including high profile candidates Mary Davis and Seán Gallagher, will speak before a special meeting of the County Council tomorrow afternoon.

Other candidates looking for nomination include Dr.Pat Jones, a scientist and author from Carlow, Cork native and author Richard McSweeney, and Dermot Mulqueen, a UCD graduate from Clare.

All five Presidential hopefuls will each be given a ten minute slot to pitch their case to members of Galway county council, before the floor opens up for questions.
