CAMPAIGN GROUP TO DISCUSS BALLINFOILLE NEIGHBOURHOOD COMPLEX

Date Published: 17-Jan-2013
Locals are to step up their campaign for a neighbourhood complex in Ballinfoille when the matter is raised at a special meeting next Thursday.
Local campaign group RAPID Urban Regeneration and Renewal is to hold its monthly meeting where the long awaited project is on the agenda.
The plans, which are estimated to cost more than two million euro are subject to a re-assessment of tender applications after the inital contractor pulled out last August.
Galway City Council says it's still evaluating a particular tender and a decision will be made in the next few weeks.
Local campaigner Brendan Smith says a door-to-door petition will begin later this month to push to secure the facility.
He says the community now needs to stand together.
