CALL TO ADDRESS RUSH-HOUR TAILBACKS AT ORANMORE ONE-WAY

Date Published: 17-Sep-2012
Fresh calls have been made for the immediate reversal of a one-way-system at the old school house in Oranmore, following mounting local concern over traffic delays.
Local Senator Fidelma Healy Eames says the Maree Road where the intersection is located now resembles the M50 due to the length of tailbacks at morning rush-hour.
The route is part of the Oranmore traffic management plan and was changed to one-way in April.
In July, Local area Cllr Jim Cuddy said an agreement had been reached with Senior Engineers to consider going back to the old two-way design.
Plans have since been put on public display where submissions were sought.
Cllr Cuddy says that process is now complete and a special meeting of all area councillors will take place this Friday.
