CALL FOR STRICTER CONTROL OF CITY PARADE ENTRIES

City Councillor Padraig Conneely is calling for a full explanation as to why Occupy Galway was allowed unauthorised participation in the city St. Patrick's Day parade.
Parade organisers say no application was received from the group which infiltrated the procession without permission.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Cllr Conneely says tighter controls are needed.
It comes as the Occupy camp is calling on city council to open up dialogue with campaigners.
The occupiers say that city officials have yet to identify what health and safety concerns the camp currently poses.
However Cllr Conneely says he has no intention of engaging with the camp and that authorities need to step up their efforts to have them removed.
