Call for more effective marketing of city park 'n' ride facility

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The future of the park 'n' ride facility from Carnmore into the city depends on it being marketed better.

That's according to Councillor Ollie Crowe, who described it as a 'fiasco' at this week's meeting of the City Council.

The service operates from Galway Airport into the city from 7.20 each morning, with buses running every 20 minutes at peak times, at a cost of 2 euro per journey.

While the service proved very popular on the day of the Galway v Mayo match at Pearse Stadium, there has been a poor uptake since then.

Director of Services, Ciarán Hayes, said that the figures are disappointing and that the marketing budget had not been spent yet.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, Councillor Ollie Crowe says he feels it's a good service, but it needs better marketing.
