CALL FOR INVESTIGATION AFTER ABANDONMENT OF KNOCKNACARRA LEISURE CENTRE

An investigation is being sought into why a consortium, which proposed to build a leisure complex in Knocknacarra, cannot now do so.Galway West T.D Frank Fahey wants the City Council to investigate the procurement of the facility by J&L Group with S&P Architects and NRG Fitness.The consortium announced last week that they would not be building the much anticipated complex on the Cappagh road, due to changing economic circumstances.However, Deputy Fahey feels that this is not an adequate excuse.He's also proposing that plans by the Moritz Group to build a similiar facility at Millars Lane now be approved.
