CALL FOR COUNCIL ACTION ON SEPTIC TANK CHARGE

Date Published: 13-Aug-2011
There is a call to hold an urgent meeting of the Environment committee of Galway County Council about plans for a septic tank inspection charge.
Councillor Jim Cuddy has asked that a meeting be held to discuss the charge of 300 euro, which is due to come into effect in the next two months.
Earlier this week, a large crowd attended a public meeting in Kilconnell to discuss this latest expense to households.
It was the first in a series of such meetings organised by MEP Marian Harkin in the constituency of Connaught / Ulster.
Councillor Cuddy says the Council has not even been briefed by the Department about the new charge.
