Call for agency to deal with flooding in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Pressure is mounting on the Government from farmers organisations and emergency services to establish a national agency to deal with flooding, such as that experienced in Galway.

Associations representing, cattle, sheep and dairy farmers as well as fire and emergency crews are echoing calls for a cohesive approach to adverse weather conditions. It comes as the Government is to make 70 million euro available for repairs after the flood and storm damage. That's on top of a 25 million euro fund sanctioned for humanitarian relief efforts in flooded homes and businesses. President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association, John Comer says we need a National Waterways Authority.
