Boston Scientific Galway has missed out on a major investment to its sister plant in Tipperary.
The company, which last week confirmed is planning 1400 job cuts worldwide is investing 26 million euro in research and development at its Clonmel base.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton is welcoming the move which he says will not only create high-value jobs, but also provide spin-off benefits for Irish businesses, researchers and ultimately, the economy.
The company is a leading employer in Galway with over two thousand staff at the Ballybrit plant.
