Bank of Ireland Galway shopping Centre branch to close
Bank of Ireland's branch at Galway Shopping Centre on the Headford Road is to close in July.
The branch is to merge into the BOI outlet at Galway Industrial Estate in Mervue.
Galway Bay fm news exclusively reports the 14 staff impacted are to be offered redeployment and there will be no job losses.
A spokesperson for Bank Of Ireland says this is the first such closure for Galway city and no further closures are planned.
The spokesperson adds that Bank of Ireland is committed to Galway and has vowed to retain its national network footprint of 250 branches.
In a statement to Galway Bay fm news, the Bank says while it is not a decision it takes lightly, there is nothing unusual about merging branches across the network.
It adds that it has done this through the years where it believes customers' needs are best served through one location rather than two.
The bank has outlets in Eyre Square, Mainguard Street, NUIG, Salthill and Oranmore and Galway Industrial Estate.
The branch at Galway Shopping Centre will close on July 12th and customers are now being advised of the merge.
