Cutbacks affecting rural life in Galway will be outlined at a public meeting in Ballinasloe next week.

Fianna Fáil Deputy leader Eamon Ó Cuív has called the meeting to discuss what he's termed the "anti-rural measures" being imposed by the Government.

Under current plans, rural Garda stations, schools, courthouses and community hospitals will be closed down.

Multiple septic tank charges and associated costs are also causing concern among rural dwellers.

The public meeting will take place in Gullane's Hotel Ballinasloe next Monday at 8 pm.
