The army will be providing transport to patients in need of Palliative Care in Galway today.

This follows a commitment by Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea to provide troops to assist local authorities during the cold spell.

Air Ambulance crews have already been scrambled across the country and 800 vehicles have been made available for emergency transport.
