Aran Islanders are calling for a mid-day passenger ferry service between the islands and the mainland during the 'off-season'.In the past, the mid-day ferry service has operated all year round from Kilronan to Ros a Mhil. However, this year, Island ferries, who were awarded the ferry contract, have ceased the mid-day route during the winter months. One service now runs each morning and evening transporting passengers between the mainland and the Islands.Comharchumann Forbatha Arann Teo, the development group for the Aran Islands, is calling on the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to review the situation.Manager of the co-op, Cathy Ní Ghoill says the islanders badly need the mid-day service.
