The air quality in Galway remains good. The 2008 air quality data from the EPA shows that air quality was good at the Mace Head and Headford road roundabout monitoring stations. In Galway city emissions from traffic were the main threat to air quality leading to higher levels of nitrogen dioxide and pollution than in other areas. Ozone levels in Connemara last year were higher than in the east of the country and exceeded targets.
