All 50 employees at the four star House Hotel are set to return to work this week when the city centre hotel re-opens.

The premises has been given a complete re-fit after it was gutted by the previous owner and is set to re-open its doors on Friday .

General Manager Margaret Jenkins told the Sentinel that the closure gave management the opportunity for the hotel to be given a total makeover.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience that has been caused to customers, but it was out of our control. But every cloud has a silver lining, and everything has been refurbished; new furniture and fittings.

“It gave us the opportunity to make changes that would have been difficult otherwise. If we had a choice now, we wouldn’t take back the furniture that was there. It was eight years old and becoming worn.

“We’re bringing back the boutique interior with lots of pink and lime green and are delighted with how it’s looking. It’s like a new hotel,” said Ms Jenkins.

The premises was unexpectedly shut down by a receiver six weeks ago following a legal battle with the then management company and an agreement could not be reached.

It was then stripped of all furniture and fittings by the previous owner.
