New pub for Knocknacarra gets the go ahead from Galway City Council

From this week's Galway City Tribune - A new pub and restaurant is to be built in Knocknacarra after a property developer secured planning permission on a site off the Western Distributor Road.

The plan – for the corner of the Gleann na Móna development currently under construction off the Ballymoneen Road roundabout – includes a bar and restaurant area on the ground floor, with a restaurant upstairs along with a covered terrace with outdoor seating and a smoking area.

It supersedes planning permission previously secured on the site which stipulated that a restaurant there could not operate as a public bar.

City planning officials said the pub usage was acceptable under the City Development Plan and noted that their previous concerns in relation to parking were because the 2019 planning application included the ground and first floors as a bar.
