Ballyduff Upper GAA Club paid tribute to the young man on social media following the tragic news.

It said: “We extend deepest sympathies to the family, friends and teammates of our former player, Killian English, following his sudden passing.

“Killian was a wonderfully talented hurler and footballer who proudly wore the red and white jersey throughout his years with the club.

“He played a key role in many successful teams, helping the club to win numerous underage county titles in both hurling and football, while also claiming 3 points in our Junior B hurling victory last September.

“Killian also represented Waterford on hurling development squads. As a ciotóg, Killian had a distinguished style on the field with a beautiful wristy strike. Killian was a great friend to so many in our community.

“He carried a smile wherever he went, and his warmth and good nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

“His presence will be greatly missed. His passing is a heartbreaking loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with all who knew and loved him at this incredibly difficult time.

“At times like these, we are reminded of the importance of looking after one another. If anyone is struggling or in need of support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our club officers”.

Tributes have poured in on RIP.ie, one person said: “My sincere condolences to all of Killian’s family and friends.

“I have such fond memories of Killian from his time at school. He was a gentleman, full of kindness and great fun to be around. He will be remembered with great affection. May Killian rest in eternal peace”.
