The country is shocked and heartbroken after a mother and her young girl both died following a tragic car accident
Funeral arrangements have been set after a mother and her daughter were tragically killed in a road collision.
Nell Saffron Raven and her darling 10-year-old daughter Irena Raven Mereacre were from Gortnacleigh, Milltown, Belturbet in Cavan and died on 24th July 2026, tragically following a car accident.
The pair are deeply regretted and very sadly missed by their heartbroken husband and father Alexandru, daughters and sisters Eveline Margalla Kemp and Violet Elizabeth Kemp, parents and grandparents Erik Raven and Christina Smith and Nell’s sisters Daisy Raven and Poppy Sharrock.
Funeral Arrangements:
Remains will be reposing at Lawlor's Funeral Home, Ernehill, Belturbet, Co. Cavan (Eircode H14 R583) this Friday evening from 5pm until evening prayers at 7pm.
Remains will leave the family home in Gortnacleigh at 10.30am on Saturday morning to arrive for funeral service at 11am in St Patrick’s Church, Milltown (Eircode H14 K318) with burial afterwards in Drumlane cemetery.
Tributes have poured in across the country following the tragic event which left left many people shocked and heartbroken.
One person said: “My heartfelt sympathies to the Raven and Mereacre families on the tragic deaths of Nell and Irena.
“This heartbreaking accident has numbed houeholds everywhere and its desolation and grief are impossible to countenance. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers at this sad and most difficult time.”
Another person said: “ Deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Nell and Irena. Such a terrible tragedy to rip a community and family apart. May you get the courage and strength to rise above this”.
“My sincere condolences to Alexandru and all of Nell and Ira’s family and close friends. Two lives taken much too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this extremely sad and tough time. May they both rest in eternal peace. From your former postman,” another person said.
