Michelin star Galway restaurant denies false and 'fraudulent' rumours

They warned the public to report anything they see to the business immediately
An award-winning Michelin star Galway restaurant has had to come out and deny false and 'fraudulent' rumours that have been spreading online.
Lignum has confirmed they will not be opening any new restaurants nor are they hiring in Dublin after lies were spread by trolls through advertising platforms, according to the restaurant.
They warned the public to not engage with any of the advertising posts and report anything they see to the business immediately.
A spokesperson for Lignum said: “Please be aware. We have been made aware of fraudulent job advertisements circulating using the Lignum name.
“We are not hiring in Dublin and we are not opening any new restaurants. Any genuine vacancies will only ever be advertised through our official channels and we will never ask applicants to provide personal documents or sensitive information through an unofficial email address or messaging platform.”
They concluded by saying: “Please do not engage with these advertisements or share any personal information.”
The wood-fired fine dining establishment in Bullaun, which was awarded its first star in 2025, has been opened since 2019 and won Irish restaurant of the year in 2019.
Speaking about Lignum in its review, Michelin said: “Lignum is Latin for 'wood' and, as such, it’s the ancient method of cooking over an open flame which takes centre stage at this immensely likeable restaurant.
“It's housed in a modern barn conversion which has a distinctly Scandic vibe, from the large windows and minimalist furnishings to the roaring fire and throws on the chairs.
“The wood-fired cooking lends a delicious smoky dimension to the creative dishes, which – informed by the chef's heritage – blend ingredients from Ireland (such as sweet lobster tail) and Italy (Amalfi lemon). It all comes in the form of a surprise tasting menu.”
Only three weeks ago, the renowned restaurant reviewers Michelin added another Galway restaurant to their newest Guide update.
The Universal on William Street down the Westend became the 117th Irish place to be put on Michelin’s ultimate bible of food worldwide.
Galway now has a respectable nine inclusions in the Guide.
Also on the list are: Darog; Aniar; Kai; The Pullman; Blackthorn; George V Restaurant and Owenmore.
