Topform, the Gort-based makers of creative work surface solutions, has been named as a finalist in the year’s Small Firms Association Awards in the Manufacturing Category.  The announcement was made at the SFA Awards Showcase in Dublin Castle last week.

The awards, sponsored by Energia, will be presented by Taoiseach Enda Kenny to all category winners and the Overall Winner at a Gala Event in March 2015.

From humble beginnings, Topform – based at Tubber Road, Gort – has grown into Ireland’s premier supplier of Creative Worktop Solutions. With almost 40 years of experience supplying to the construction industry, Topform are at the cutting edge of innovation in Laminating.

Originally set up in 1976 by a company called Amhurst, the Canadian manufacturing company established a factory in the Shannon Industrial Free Zone, manufacturing postformed laminate worktops.

Topform relocated to its current site in Gort in 1977, and after surviving recession and tough trading times, it was the subject of a management buyout by Paul Glynn in 1996.

Modern manufacturing techniques and new equipment were introduced, and so too began the pursuit of offering the best worktops in the world.

Topform evolved from a laminate worktop manufacturer to what is now a “Creative Worksurface Solutions Company”

A major milestone came in 2007 with the launch of TopShape, a pre-manufactured square edged, fully finished countertop to the marketplace. This became the fastest growing new product introduction in the history of Topform.

The SFA Award nomination is just the latest chapter in an ongoing success story.
