Raelach Records hosts special trad show at the Black Gate

Raelach Records presents a special concert in The Black Gate Cultural Centre next Wednesday, June 27. The show will see performances from Jack Talty (concertina and piano), Shane Mulchrone (banjo and tenor guitar), Saileóg Ní Cheannabháin (voice, fiddle, viola, and piano) and Mick McCague (guitar and bouzouki).
Raelach Records is a not-for-profit label that seeks to bring attention to some of the many excellent players on the Irish trad scene. They have released albums by Noel Hill, Tony McMahon and the Ensemble Ériu.
Earlier this year, Raelach released Solid Ground by Shane Mulchrone. The album was produced by Shane and Jack Talty and was recorded in Realach Studio is Lissycasey, County Clare. It also features the musical skills of Noel O’Grady (bouzouki) and Heather Cole-Mullen (melodeon). The album is a great collection of reels, jigs and waltzes and bodes well for the quality of music that will be on show at the Black Gate.
Musician, singer and composer Saileóg Ní Cheannabháin is currently arranging sean-nós songs from Connemara and An Rinn in Waterford. She released her second album, Roithleán, on the Raelach label in 2016, playing viola, fiddle and piano on the record, and being joined by an impressive cast of players.
This promises to be an impressive evening of traditional music from Raelach Records.
■ Tickets €15 can be reserved online, via the Black Gate’s Facebook page.
