Keanes sing for Gathering
Three generations of the Keane family showed why they are the premier musical dynasty in Ireland at the launch in Queallys Pub, Caherlistrane, of the Caherlistrane/ Kilcoona Gathering last week.
This event will run from August 18-25. Sean, Matt, Pat and Noel sang as Citizens Keane, giving a sample of what their concert in the village will be like on 24 August; their sister Christina sang too, as did Sean's grandnieces, Stella and Ali; both daughter's of Sean's own niece Barbara Mangan.
The community turned out in force to support the launch of the Gathering whose highlights will include the village parade on August 18; Rita Ann Higgins and Sean Keane on August19 for the Literary Evening; a folk mass in Donaghpatrick cemetery on August 21, and a magnificent day-long line up of music and heritage in Kilcoona on Friday, August 23. All welcome.
