Galway duo driving musical collective for a better world

VSN World, a musical collective and promotional outlet, is the passion project of Galway-based DJs Shampain and KETTAMA.  The two have been at the centre of the city’s electronic scene for the past five years in both their own work and their facilitation of other artists and local events.

VSN gigs have cultivated an identity and a reputation that is reflected in the quality of the acts they have booked for Irish venues in that time and, although a return to nightclubs still feels far away, their latest project upholds the same standard.

Driven and curated by Shampain, or Cóilí Collins, VSN World’s 4 A Better World is a compilation album set for release on March 5. Featuring a host of acts from both Ireland and abroad, the album is a notably eclectic mix.

In a Galway context, electronic DJs KETTAMA and Froman sit alongside dreampop four-piece NewDad and punk outfit Turnstiles. It will be available for purchase on Bandcamp and all proceeds are being donated to Dublin’s Inner City Helping Homeless charity.

“There are people on it from Brisbane, Kiev, Berlin, several places in England, France, Dublin and Galway,” Cóilí notes.

“There are probably more from Galway [than anywhere else] in Kettama, Turnstiles, Froman, NewDad, Alice Kelly and then myself compiling it.

“For me personally, I’ve always found the best tracks on these compilations. The thing that really inspired this is one in New York run by Physical Therapy, a DJ and producer called Physically Sick.
