Delorentos return with welcome new album ‘True Surrender’
The magnificent Delorentos make a welcome return to the city’s Róisín Dubh on Thursday, April 12. The Dublin based four-piece will be showcasing songs from their new album True Surrender, which is due for release on April 27. The band’s fifth album has been preceded by two singles, In Darkness We Feel Our Way and In the Moment.
The first single sees Rónán Yourell take the lead, and his distinctive voice sounds as urgent as ever. There’s a great chorus in this tune, something of a signature with this band. Ever since they first emerged in 2005, Delorentos have been a band with a seemingly endless supply of hooks.
In the Moment is an uplifting track, a song that supplies optimism, something that can be hard to find in popular music.
Rónán and Kieran McGuinness harmonise to winning effect on this track – it seems made to dominate the airwaves, and deservedly.
‘Every bit of love you give out, it comes back to you’ goes the chorus, and you’re reminded that there aren’t many bands like Delorentos. When they sing something like this, it doesn’t come across as twee. They tap into something that The Beatles had – the element in pop music that makes you feel hopeful.
This show in Galway marks the return of a great band. Tickets for Delorentos are €16/€14 members.
