Arts and business groups receive recognition for collaboration
Druid and Aerogen were among the winners at the 29th annual Business to Arts Awards ceremony which was broadcast from Dublin’s GPO last week. The two Galway companies won the Best Small Sponsorship Award for their partnership on the DruidGregory Education and Community programme.
DruidGregory, Druid’s commission for Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture, toured to 13 outdoor venues in Galway last September and October. As part of the tour, Druid instigated an Education and Community programme, engaging with schools and communities in all the locations they visited.
The aim was to make the work of playwrights Lady Augusta Gregory and Tom Murphy accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Aerogen was a key partner on this programme.
Meanwhile Galway International Arts Festival and their energy partner, Flogas, won the 2021 prize for Best Use of Creativity in the Community at the Business to Arts Awards. The award, supported by Irish Life, recognised their partnership on the Mirror Pavilion installation at the Claddagh Quay in Galway City last September.
Mirror Pavilion by renowned Irish artist John Gerrard, was commissioned by the Festival and was also a flagship event of the Galway 2020 programme.
